Mind, Heart, Tummy and Soul

Coming up to four years ago I stopped drinking- when I did so I had a niggle that it might not just be the alcohol that my body wasn't happy with.

Two months ago I had enough of the sugar highs and lows, cravings and craziness that this stuff sent me on. I had thought that I was eating much less sugar than in the past but thought I could reduce it even further and was intrigued on how this would make me feel; both mentally and physically.

Then I randomly came across the 'I Quit Sugar' books by Sarah Wilson.

GAME CHANGER.

Seriously! Sarah's experiences mirrored my own.

These books are beautiful editions of recipes, information and techniques. This isn't dieting stuff- it's small changes with massive payout.

Cutting down my sugar intake left a bit of a void in the ol' muesli department. I love making my own, but sometimes life doesn't leave room for doing eeeeverything you want to! Then I came accross The Muesli Hub. With all different sorts of bases and ingredient options, you can make muesli to your hearts content without the supermarket and messy fuss- bliss.

Jono and Lucy's business is just NEAT! Awesome concept, website, cool packaging, NZ made and the PRODUCT- YUMMM! Nom NOOM big time.

Indiegogo Snap Happy

Mega Image Guru- Nic Larsen and I shot video and stills for my upcoming Indiegogo proposal this past Sunday. Here are a few of the shots!

Maria Morris and Moena Moxham; M&M's!

Moto- Martinborough

I spent some yummy, sunny relaxing autumn hours yesterday in the Wairarapa, running in my new Triumph with my favourite riding buddy- me Da! We came accross these mighty fine machines along our travels...

The lineup..

This 1982 Chevrolet Corvette was SOOooo HOOOTTT.... would have been keen beans to take that for a little hoon hehe

The Grand Budapest Hotel- Wes Anderson Mastery

Following 'Moonrise Kingdom' into the decadent visual portal of Anderson's storytelling comes 'The Grand Budapest Hotel'. Funny, optically spectacular and with a particular off-beat kookiness all of it's own- this motion picture is sublime.

OPIUO

I had the pleasure of seeing this dude & live band on Thursday night and it was the dopest, fattest, sweatiest (urg- the roof was raining :S) most awesome gig I have attended in a year and a half. Seriously epic stuff. Cant wait to hit the snow with this in my headphones!

Some über creative offerings...

Last night, I attended a stunning wee fashion/ jewellery show at my amazing friend- Bex Brent's salon- Willis York.

Jacque Shaw and Flash Jewellery showed their latest collections in a well executed and elegant presentation.

Paolo Sorrentino's 'La Grande Bellezza' (The Great Beauty)- A visually stunning portrait of listless decadence and the sadness of lost love. Well worth indulging in dropping out of the world for 2 or so hours to float into this sensory feast...

These little fullah's arrived yesterday too in all their gilded and embossed glory.

Nothing like a gold embossed business card to bring a bit o' bling to your workday  ^=^

Sometimes its the simplest things that can make you smile..

I love winter, rain and cold weather- but for everyone who is finding the slip into the cooler months a bit unbearable, gloomy and blah- here is a video that made me giggle, smile.. and squirm a little in a fantastic goofy cool way..

Its a video called 'First Kiss'

WELCOME!

So excited to showcase my work on my new website!

Hello to you all- I hope you enjoy following my adventures through this blog.

As I have removed myself from social media, I will be posting updates to this blog featuring current projects, pictures from my upcoming adventures and bits and bobs that interest and excite me. That might be furry cute things and sloppy tasty things, noisy dirty grunty stuff or just a thought- keep popping back, because I can promise there is always something super charged going on!

Very soon I will be launching a project on the international crowd-funding website indiegogo.com. For many years I have wanted to travel to Japan; a country and culture that has inspired me in many aspects of my life. In early 2015 this trip is a reality. The Indiegogo platform gives me the opportunity to showcase my art internationally , convey my concept to a worldwide audience and fundraise all in one.

I am travelling to Japan to soak up as much art, culture, music, cuisine and snow missions as one person can put in a trip! While there, I aim to make connections with like-minded artists. Using the adventure, and my passion for snowboarding to meet people and make real rather than virtual connections, I hope to encounter and create opportunities for myself to exhibit in Japan, and find Japanese artists who are interested in exhibiting with me in Wellington at my studio on my return. Long-term I would love to explore turning this into a biennial event, alternating between NZ and Japan.

The trip will be inspiration for my next body of work.

Watch this space!- you will hear all about this project and others here first!

Please feel free to contact me with any queries, projects or just general chin wag.
