Bold Worlds- Pictures at an Exhibition
I was tickled pink to be invited to attend last nights performance from the NZSO. I played the violin for many years and it was so delightful to be immersed in the elegant world of classical music again.
To have the pleasure to see Hakan Hardenberger perform was stunning.
The showcase was a cosmic, orbital experience and transported me to a different plane for a few hours..

HÅKAN HARDENBERGER trumpet
Brass was the star when the NZSO joined forces with the world’s greatest living trumpet soloist Håkan Hardenberger for Bold Worlds.
Famous for his charisma, swagger and skill, Hardenberger can make the trumpet sing like a human voice. No wonder he performs with the most prestigious international orchestras and was declared “the best trumpet player in the galaxy” by The Times.
The Trumpet Concerto Dramatis Personae by Brett Dean, which styles the trumpeter as a superhero, was unique and fascinating. Written for him, it showcases Hardenberger at his unrivalled best.
Janáček’s rousing Sinfonietta, an irresistible explosion of colour that crackles with invention and surprise was the icing on the cake of an audio experience to remember.
